It has recognised the need to provide additional services to the Ceramics market through the establishment of a separate facility for the distribution and further processing of clays.

To provide the Ceramic industry with the most comprehensive and modern centralised unit of its kind, ECC International invested £7 million in the Ceramic Body Plant.

Located in Stoke-on-Trent, the centre of the ceramic industry in the UK, the plant offers three key facilities:

  • 1. Clay Store and Distribution Centre.
    With an annual throughput approaching 150,000 tonnes of clay, this provides an efficient and flexible means of supply to the local industry.

  • 2. Clay Refining Plant.
    The ability to carry out additional and sophisticated refining processes on clay raw materials bringing significant benefits to our customers.
  • 3. Prepared Body Plant.
    ECC International’s response to the needs of our customers who recognise the benefits of obtaining their raw materials in a premixed form.

Such facilities are totally in keeping with the stated aims of the Ceramic Group of ECC International. These are to be the leading supplier of quality kaolins, ball clays and calcined kaolins to the “high value” sectors of the Ceramic Industry and to grow into other value added sectors.
