Over many years, ECC International has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience in the formulation of all types of ceramic bodies. This has been used to design and construct one of the most modern ceramic body-making facilities of its kind.

It has the flexibility to produce a wide range of spray dried body types using the most up-to-date spray drying techniques to achieve the highest standards of controlled consistency and quality.

In addition to a range of standard bodies in the Bodystar range, ECC International is able to produce recipes tailored to specific customers’ requirements. As well as the basic raw material recipe, customers may specify binders, deflocculants and process variables such as screening sizes, moisture content, grain size of granulate, slurry density, etc.

The principal features of the production process are as follows: The ball clay component (where used) is dispersed and refined. To this is added the required amounts of pre-ground non-plastic materials bought in from accredited suppliers. To this, the pre-weighed quantity of kaolin and other additives required for the body batch are added. This whole process is computer controlled to ensure precise formulation. Screening and the use of both electromagnets and powerful rare earth permanent magnets ensures freedom from harmful contaminants.
